Second visit to your Doctor

Hi Josh,

Today we are going to visit Dr. Sang Jo Han. This is your second time to visit your doctor. The last time was when you had your first immunization and they gave you the Hep-B shot. Your Kuya Vlad will accompany us since your Papa is in school working. Your appointment is 3:15 pm but we are going there early so that we don’t have to wait that long. On your last visit to Dr. Han we waited for an hour before he was able to check you. It is cold outside with the temperature of 39°F though it is sunny day. On Thursday, there is a prediction that there will be snow. Wow! that will be your first snow experience. Oh how I love to play with you, we will make a snow angel or snow man but you are still a baby.hehe! Maybe next year you and I will play in the snow. =)

Forty-two things that change when you have a baby

I was reading my email and I think it is good to share this to Mommies like me. It is from Baby Center website and written by Rebecca Woolf. =)

1. You finally stop to smell the roses, because your baby is in your arms.

2. Where you once believed you were fearless, you now find yourself afraid. [See a reader's perspective in #22, below.]

3. The sacrifices you thought you made to have a child no longer seem like sacrifices.

4. You respect your body … finally.

5. You respect your parents and love them in a new way.

6. You find that your baby’s pain feels much worse than your own.

7. You believe once again in the things you believed in as a child.

8. You lose touch with the people in your life whom you should have banished years ago.

9. Your heart breaks much more easily.

10. You think of someone else 234,836,178,976 times a day.

11. Every day is a surprise.

12. Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)

13. You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.

14. You become a morning person.

15. Your love becomes limitless, a superhuman power.

And from our readers…

1. “You discover how much there is to say about one tooth.” — Ashley’s mom

2. “You finally realize that true joy doesn’t come from material wealth.” — Anonymous

3. “You now know where the sun comes from.” — Charlotte

12. “Your dog — who used to be your ‘baby’ — becomes just a dog.” — Kara

[Many readers begged to differ, saying things like, " I disagree with number 12. My dogs are my additional children," "Nothing about previous babies, whether two- or four-legged, changes when a new miracle comes along," "My dog will never be 'just a dog," and "This is sad to me. My dog is still my baby too."]

21. You finally find out the real reason you have those breasts. — Anon.

22. In response to #2 [above], I’d say that where you were once afraid, you’re now fearless. I was always very timid and shy and let myself get walked all over … but now where my kid’s concerned, I’ll speak my mind and really connect with my inner “b”! — gummismom

It is raining today. I went to Dupage County Health Department in Lombard to pick up Joshua’s WIC card. We did not wait that long. We stayed there for only 20 minutes and then were done. Finally, I got his WIC card after two times of trying picking up his card. First was when I forgot to bring his proof of birth like his foot prints, birth certificate or hospital discharge papers. I applied a copy of his birth certificate and I have not receive it yet. So, they made another appointment and they said I just have to bring proof of birth and then I can get the card. So I went again, I had his papers already but I was late for more than two hours. My appointment was 8:15 AM but I arrived at 10:30 AM. The receptionist said they cannot accommodate me anymore because they only have the two Dieticians so she had to reschedule me. I am glad it is over I had his WIC card and I can now buy his Enfamil Lipil formula.

At home, Vlad and Jed are cooking for our pre-Thanksgiving celebration tonight. I think they are cooking maple roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, spaghetti, brownies, rice krispies treats etc. This is would be baby Josh first Thanksgiving. The Fajardos and Centeno family are coming over to join us for dinner. Vlad will have work tomorrow that is why we are celebrating our Thanksgiving today.

Yesterday we went to Oberweis to buy milk and chocolate milk. They have the chocolate truffles so we bought the 9-piece pack. I like the truffles especially the hazelnut almond flavor. I am trying to lose weight but how can I resist these chocolates. They’re so yummy. =)

WIC card for Josh

It’s been quite a while since the last time I post anything on this blog. As much as I want to update my blogs I cannot because I have a baby to take care of. I just gave birth last month and I spent most of my time with him. Good thing I am not experiencing baby blues. My only problem is not having enough sleep. But it is ok I can manage. I try to get some sleep every time he is asleep. Yesterday, we went to Lombard to apply a WIC card for him. WIC or Women, Infant and Children, is a special supplemental nutritional program for low-income women and children. The program provides food checks to pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under age five. On Friday morning I will need to go back to pick up his food checks. Afterward, we will go to Valle Produce to buy meat and grocery.

missing boy inside the balloon not found

Boy in Balloon

A 6-year-old boy from Colorado, near Fort Collins is missing. According to the brother of the missing boy, they were playing when the younger brother Falcon climbed into the hot-air balloon aircraft into the compartment and it floated away for more than two hours. The balloon is gray and shaped like a flying saucer. It can rise up to 10,000 feet. The balloon landed already but the boy is not there. It is not clear whether the boy fell out or was never actually inside the balloon. The boy’s parents, Richard and Mayumi Heene, owned the balloon. That is terrible news; I just hope they will boy is fine and just hiding somewhere.

playing tennis

After his class, HB played tennis with his brother. We met a Filipino couple and so they played doubles. While they’re playing I walked around the park and took some pictures so that I have something to post in my blog. I saw a lot of teenagers in the area. They’re playing basketball and biking, while others chatting with their friends in the play ground. The weather was good that day. After the game, we went to Wendy’s to have snacks and then we went home.
